Have you seen that awesome quote by Ira Glass about creative work?
The idea is — in the beginning there’s a gap between our vision of what we want to create and our actual creation.
He says how it takes years of doing LOTS of work before it the finished product can match your ambitions.
The only thing is — I think he leaves something out of this equation.
We have to face that gap each and every time we sit down to write.
No matter how many articles, books or sales pages(!) you’ve written — when you sit down with an empty page, it is scary.
Can I do it this time?
Do I really know what I’m doing?
What if this sucks?
This is one reason why we feel a huge resistance to just getting started.
It feels so scary to create something that might potentially suck — and not live up to the buried genius we know is inside us.
There is one powerful tool I have discovered to overcome this fear each and every time I sit down to write.
I share it in today’s episode of BlueTV – 3 Tips for Dealing With Resistance! Watch it here.
